What's "news" with
SEP?
"Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans?"
(from The Harmonet, June
1, 2008) - After nine straight years, the Saturday Evening Post
Quartet (SEP) will NOT be hosting the annual Mardi Gras party in
Nashville. However, we plan on passing out the beads and having
a bigger and better party in Anaheim in 2009!
Seriously, this year
SEP expected to be with you all in Nashville. We really enjoyed
qualifying at the Pioneer District Contest (thank you, Pioneer!)
and were excited about competing in our tenth straight
International Contest. (Heck, we even ordered the Mardi Gras
Beads!) That was the plan and we will miss you all very much.
Nonetheless, there
are times when family issues need to take precedence over even
barbershop. This is the case this year with one of our members,
who is facing some serious family issues dealing with the
inevitable aging of his parents and the parents of his wife.
Circumstances have made it prudent for him to save vacation days
and expenses in order to deal with these family issues.
The rest of the
quartet is very supportive of our brother in harmony. We concur
that the priority is for him and his wife to tend to the family.
For those of you who were looking forward to catching some more
beads, thank you for your continued support and look for us to
come back with more fun and harmony in 2009. We know that
Nashville will be special and we wish the best to all of the
competitors in this year's competition.
Sincerely,
Scott ~ Allen ~ Bobby ~ Tommy
SEP Qualifies for Tenth Consecutive
International
Battle Creek, MI (Apr. 26, 2008) - SEP--better known as the
"Saturday Evening Post Quartet"--has qualified to compete in
Nashville making this the tenth year in a row the quartet has
qualified to compete on the International Contest stage!
SEP recently the honor of competing in the Pioneer District, in
Battle Creek, MI, on April 26, 2008. What a wonderful time. The
quartet was treated like gold, asked us to sing on the Show of
Champions, and welcomed us into seven different hospitality rooms.
SEP would like to thank the Pioneer District for allowing us to
compete in their contest and for welcoming us so graciously at
their event! Thanks for all your support!
See you all in Nashville. Look and listen for some NEW songs out
of SEP (or as the judges say ... "It's about time!").
Hire SEP For A Song!
Colorado Springs, CO (Dec. 20, 2007) - In a bold move to spread
the joy of Barbershop Harmony and sing for as many people as
possible, the Saturday Evening Post Quartet (SEP), one of the
Society's top show quartets, has made 2008 "Hire SEP for a Song"
year! Any chorus that would like to have this fine quartet on
their show may book them "for expenses only"!
"We'd like to give back to the Society and we felt one way we
could do that was to donate our show fees to choruses who would
like to make little more money on their show and in a small way,
we feel we can help spread the joy of Barbershop Harmony", said
Baritone and Contact Man Bobby Gray Jr.
Quartets receive so much support and joy from Barbershoppers and
their audiences and this move by SEP is one that certainly
will provide some of that back to the chapters around the Society.
"We've been lucky", says Gray, "We've had the opportunity to sing
for thousands of Barbershoppers all over the world and it's time
that we give back to the people who have given so much to us."
If your chorus would like to take advantage of this offer from SEP
they may be contacted at
www.sepquartet.com or by email to
bobbyg1031@aol.com.
The quartet has stated that this offer would apply to any bookings
in 2008 that would extend through 2009! Who knows, this may start
a trend and other quartets may follow suit!
